So, was there ever a doubt that I would adore the new Sherlock Holmes, given my love of crack, Sherlock Holmes, crack, Jude Law, Robert Downey Jr., crack, Guy Ritchie flicks, and, you know. Cross-dressing ass-kicking hotties making their way in a man's world by hook, crook, and any means very necessary, plus crack, and well. No? I agree. Plus, there may have been some good crack in this.

And then they busted out the reference to the family estate, complete with follies near Chichester.

Sold, motherfucker, sold to the lady who is desperately weak against Strong!Watson and daydreams about Hornblower being Holmes's ancestor. Spoilers. )

Best part of it all, of course, was seeing it with [info]amonitrate to squeal with and punch as the mood struck.

The number of times I've watched the Hit Girl teaser for Kick Ass in the past 45 minutes is truly astounding. Yes, I know she's just a side character. Yes, I know it's Mark "Problematic" Millar. But holy shit, I'm pretty hungry for girls bringing the badass in pots and buckets and washtubs, and. Just.

YES.

Apparently I took an almost three month hiatus. It was completely unplanned. Thanks (& sorry!) to all of you who have asked about my RPF - it means a lot that you guys have missed it! I've been writing & rewriting this over & over. It seems that I'm still a bit rusty, given the unexpected break from writing. This is just a short little something & I hope that finally being satisfied with it means that I'm working out all that rust!

Woops, forgot to add that like most of my stuff, yes this is a one shot. Hopefully now that I've started working the kinks out of my writing, I'll have something new again soon. :)

Costumes/Con for 2010

  • Dec. 20th, 2009 at 11:06 AM

I really need to cut back heaviuly on costumes and cons because I don't want to take to much time away from work and I don't want to spend too much money. I'm hoping to move into my first apartment in the begining of this coming year. But, I want to do some new things and of course I really want to go to at least a con. So let's see, which con(s) should I go to?

To choose from:
San Diego Comic Con DragonCon Celebration V

San Diego Comic Con: A ton of my friends are going and it's just a short train ride down. I don't have to pay for an expensive plane ticket. I also already have my ticket for it. And if I don'tgo, I may be letting some people down. It's also just smart to do for the industry I'm in and will give me a leg up at work.

But, I don't have a room for it and that's such a huge headache. The whole con is starting to be a huge headache and I know that this year there won't be as much Iron Man stuff. Aside from doing costumes and seeing friends (which I do at every con), there's really no pull for me this year. Although, I'm guessing there won't be a Twilight panel, so it would be nice to go to the con without all the crazies. ;)

DragonCon: Has the Yule Ball and with my re-reading of Harry Potter, I really want to go this year. I have't been to the ball yet. I already have a room. I'd see so many friends on the east coast that I never get to see. It's the best con there is and I'll be with my girls (except Sami which makes me really sad). Also, I already have a few diferent group costumes planned and I think I'm most looking forward to do Harry Potter stuff this year. But the biggest pull is hanging out with my girls (which sadly I didn't do enough this past year).

It's on the other side of the country so I'd have to pay for an expensive plane ticket. It's a con I've been to for four years and can just go the next year. It's right after SDCC, so if I do that, I probabaly couldn't do this.

Celebration V: Is in Orlando!!! Literally just around the block from my house! So I wouldn't need to get a hotel room (huge money saver) and my Mom offered to have some of my friends stay with me. I'd also get to see my family again which I rarely get to do now. Also, since I'm going home, I bet I could get my parents to help with costs (make it an early Christmas present). And I could see my Orlando friends and get to be crazy with them. I know the area really well so I'd know all the cool places to go after the con. Also, the Star Wars Celebrations don't come once a year. They just pop up whenever, so who knows if I can go to the next one.

It's just one fandom. A fandom I'm not all gung-ho about anymore (not saying I don't love it and wouldn't do some costumes for it). But if I can only choose one con, I'd rather some thing with more diversity. If I do this, I know I can't do DragonCon.

I think I've already made up my mind. Do DragonCon no matter what. San Diego Comic Con if I can swing it and pretty much forget about Celebration V. But we'll see how the year pans out. Wouldn't it be cool if I could swing all three??? Doubtful, but you never know.

Ok, so costumes. I really wanted something different, recognizable and flashy for SDCC. Not just the usal suit that people only get now 'cause I crammed Pepper Potts down their throats, lol. I was thinking of finally doing Madame Masque. I had the idea a few years back and this year I have the option of taking off the wig and mask if they get annoying and going as Pepper in disguise. The suit would be pretty easy to make/modify I think. The mask would be the tricky part. But since I want to do easy this year, I can always cheat and just make a regular mask and hang it with a wig from my belt and just be Pepper.

I also told some girls I'd do an Ironette dancer with them. It does look like fun and not too difficult to make. It would take more planning and dewing on my part than Madame Masque, but definitely outside my relm of possibilites in sewing.

I also wanted to fix up my sequel Pepper Potts outfit which I think I can do.

I really want to do Ginny Weasley for DragonCon. I think it would be so much fun. Martha and I already have planned so many fun adventures. She's going to be Bella so we can duel all the time and terrorize the Twilight crazies. I just think that Hogwarts robes would be a fun project and I feel like it would be satisfying my 12 year old self.

So this is really starting to stack up. I may have to knock off Madame Masque because I can't spend too much money. We'l see.
